Ayla Eichler

Name: Ayla

Age: 18

Country: USofA

Overview: “Well I am an 18 year-old clothing and music enthusiast and amateur artist on the side. My parents were both an eccentric bunch which I think attributed to a lot of my inherited quirkiness; my dad is a staunch German man with an obsession with Trains and star Trek. My mother is a whimsical slightly psychotic yoga teacher, and hippie at heart. Together they taught me how to appreciate the little things in this world, and to be uncompomisingly myself. I have a free spirit and I have a steady down-to earth spirit; i like to express those both in every thing i do, be it my clothes, my art, or my career. As long as i stay true to being myself, quirks and all, I am happy with my life. I am truly easily satisfied.”

1. Her style in 5 words of less:
“crawled-out-a-dumpster-chic”

2. What are your greatest fashion influences?
“Nostalgia; I am always wishing I were from a decade other than the one i am in now, and the best way i can do so is in my clothes. I look through old pictures, books, and movies and try my best to emulate them in a way that still encorporates who i am today in this modern place.”

3. Favorite designers:
“Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood, Jean-paul Gaultier, Alexander Mcqueen, Gareth Pugh, and John Galliano.”

4. Whose closet would you want to raid?
“tempting to say Lady Gaga, but I’ll opt for Daphne Guinness instead.”

5. Favorite accessories:
“gaudy jewelry, driving gloves, or a dream catcher haha”

6. Where do you shop?
“I’m broke so mostly thrift stores. I also trade clothes online when I am extra strapped for cash. I am a true budget shopper.”

7. Who’s your best shopping partner?
“My boyfriend; his inner femme comes out the second we walk into a store; he can dress me almost better than i can do!”

8. Favorite trend of all time:
“I am not sure, can 1940′s side show burlesque count? If not then I am holding on for dear life to the whole power shoulders and bodycon dress revival we are experiencing.”

9. style over comfort? Or comfort over style?
“Both can easily go hand-in-hand. I opt for comfort. If it’s not comfortable it’s not worth it because your lack of ease will show and ruin the outfit.”

10. Ultimate shopping advice:
“Trust your first instinct and don’t try to talk yourself out of something fabulous just because you don’t think it will “suit” you or are worried about what “others” might think. Nostalgia; I am always wishing I were from a decade other than the one i am in now, and the best way i can do so is in my clothes. I look through old pictures, books, and movies and try my best to emulate them in a way that still encorporates who i am today in this modern place.”
